This "must see" covered market runs along side the Mekong River and is a favourite attraction for many visitors to Nong Khai.
Nong Khai has always been an important trading post in the Indochina region and there is still a ferry that runs from the Tha Sadet pier across to Tha Dua in Laos. This used to be the main route to Laos before the opening of the Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge.
Tha Sadet market offers a huge variety of goods, imported from all over the Indochina region and beyond, including electric appliances, wood carvings, silverware, silk, clothes, watches, local produce and much more. There is sure to be something to interest every shopper and it is an ideal place to pick up souvenirs as you will generally find prices to be lower than in other places such as Bangkok or Chiang Mai.
The Tha Sadet Market is open daily from 07:00 to 18:30.
